Voters headed to polling precincts across Michigan Tuesday to cast ballots as Campaign 2022 came to a close. Secretary of State office spokesperson Jake Rollow told Michigan News Network Tuesday afternoon turnout was looking good.

“We’re seeing strong turnout, or hearing about strong turnout at poling places across the state, but it is also being processed smoothly,” Rollow said. “People are getting in and out, casting their ballots without issue. That’s good news for election day.”

Rollow said more than two million absentee ballots were requested and more than 1.7 million ballots were returned. He said based on his visits to polling locations, more people are showing in person than in recent elections, either August of this year or November of 2020.
