Congressman Tim Walberg stopped in Berrien County on Tuesday as voters across Michigan cast their ballots in the midterms. Walberg easily won reelection, this time in Michigan’s new Seventh District, over Democratic challenger Bart Goldberg. Speaking early Tuesday, Walberg urged supporters to get to the polls.

“Ge tout and vote liberty by voting straight Repubublican and against socialists, and by the way, vote against [Proposal] Two and vote against Three,” Walberg said.

Walberg’s Seventh District covers the bottom part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, running all the way from Monroe County to Berrien County. The southern portion of Berrien County, south of about Stevensville, now falls into Walberg’s district. Walberg stopped by the Berrien County Republican headquarters Tuesday as he travelled across his district.

Following his victory Tuesday, Walberg issued the following statement:

“From Lake Michigan to Lake Erie, I am humbled to receive such an outpouring of support across the entirety of southern Michigan. To the majority of voters in Michigan’s new 5th District who I have previously represented, I am grateful for your continued support. To the voters in the new portion of the district who voted for me the first time, it is an honor to be your voice in Congress. A special thank you to our many incredible volunteers and supporters who helped power our grassroots campaign to victory.”
