The Hartford Public Library is getting into the Christmas sprit with a series of events throughout December. It says the fun kicks off next Wednesday, December 7 with the library’s Annual Gingerbread House Making from 4 to 5 p.m. All children will be welcome to make and decorate their gingerbread houses with the materials provided. Just call the library to reserve a place. Up next is Read Aloud on December 8 from 4 to 5 p.m. with the reading of Christmas stories. The library says Saturday, December 10 brings Christmas in Hartford with cookie decorating, hot dogs and beverages, Christmas crafts, and a scavenger hunt. The library will be giving away free books and will have a drawing for an Aggressor Pro GT Mountain Bike. The lighted parade starts at 6 p.m. bringing Santa and Mrs. Claus to the library, and they’ll judge the Ugly Sweater Contest at 7 p.m. The Hartford Chamber of Commerce is giving away four $50 cash prizes December 10, and for a chance to win, entry boxes can be found at Hardings, Hair Forum, Kellogg’s Hardware, and the Hartford Public Library.
