The Berrien County Clerk’s elections staff will take part in some recounts this week. Clerk Sharon Tyler told county commissioners last week there will be local recounts Tuesday. They were requested by candidates in last month’s elections.

“We will have a local recount at the Niles South County Courthouse, and I thank the staff of Berrien County for helping me put this together,” Tyler said. “We will be recounting the city of Buchanan council member. We will also be recounting the Berrien Springs Village Council and the Coloma school district. These are non-partisan elections. Republicans and Democrats cannot challenge.”

Then on Thursday, Tyler said her staff will take part in a statewide recount for four municipalities regarding Proposals Two and Three. Berrien County is one of the counties selected to take part in that recount. They’ll be recounting votes in Bridgman, St. Joseph Township, Chikaming Township, and Royalton Township. The clerk’s staff will go on a trip to Allegan for that joint effort with Allegan, Barry, and Ottawa counties.
