The winter storm has come and gone and parts of Michigan saw a few feet of snow. Michael Bolgis, a meteorologist with National Weather Service in Gaylord, says the snowfall up-north was almost record setting:

“It was a high impact winter storm,” Bolgis said. “For Gaylord and points north and west of there, widespread blowing snow and phenomenal snow amounts. We had snowfall here at the office of 35 inches ending this morning, and up in Sault Ste. Marie, they had almost 36 inches. So, a very high impact winter storm.”

According to Bolgis, the winter storm caused the second snowiest 24 hour period on record in Gaylord. Wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour caused dangerous blowing and drifting snow during the storm. Here in southwest Michigan, the temperatures are expected to climb into the mid 30s by mid-week.
