A free clinic for student hearing and vision screenings will be offered next week by the Berrien County Health Department. Hearing and vision coordinator Melisa Jordan tells us these screenings are for homeschooled and virtually schooled students from kindergarten through ninth grade. She says there’s no particular age at which such screenings are most important.

“It’s amazing how at some point, your child just loses the ability to see or hear well, and you just don’t realize it,” Jordan said.

Jordan says the free clinic will be next Wednesday at both the Niles and Benton Harbor office of the Berrien County Health Department from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Any parents can stop by with their kids, ages kindergarten through ninth grade. The department can help them connect with help to pay for glasses if it’s needed.
