Michigan conservation officers credit calls to their tipline that led them to a Kalamazoo hunter. Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement say 55-year-old Scott Meisterheim is a poacher with little remourse. He’s now charged with 10 violations. James Nason is a conservation officer with the Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division and had this to say about it.

“I really haven’t encountered somebody who has absolutely no regard for the resource or any laws surrounding hunting and fishing and things like that,” says Nason. “He had zero remorse. He really did not care what he was doing.”

In his defense, Meisterheim said he’s “not the most ethical hunter” adding “I don’t care, I am addicted to the venison.” He’s currently serving 18 months probation for aggravated domestic assault, but now is due back in court on DNR charges in February.
