A boil water advisory is in effect for a portion of South Haven.

Crews working to replace a hydrant on the business loop at Broadway and Huron accidentally broke an 8-inch pipe resulting in a low pressure situation. The break has been repaired but the boil water advisory remains in effect at least until Sunday afternoon. Quentin Clark is the Water, Sewer, and Street Superintendent for the City of South Haven says the boil advisory is required and is a safety precaution.

The advisory covers neighborhoods between Broadway Street east to Blue Star Highway and Erie Street south to South Haven Place and 6th Avenue.

Water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled before consumption to ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the city will notify customers.
