A 28-year-old Hartford man is in the Van Buren County Jail after a chase with police Saturday evening. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy was on patrol on County Road 687 near I-94 in Hartford Township around 7 p.m. when he spotted a vehicle cross the centerline, nearly hitting the deputy’s patrol car. When the deputy went to stop the vehicle, it took off heading south, at times going as fast as 100 miles per hour. After a few minutes, the driver crashed into a hill and was taken into custody. He was found to be drunk and had two prior drunk driving arrests. He was taken to jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, drunk driving, and driving with a revoked license.
