Ground has been broken on a new $28 million dollar hangar and maintenance facility at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County. It will allow a ‘fighter wing’ to be housed at the base. It will also allow Selfridge to continue to help provide security at the northern border. Here’s Senator Gary Peters.

“The aircraft that currently fly there are getting old,” Peters said. “We have older tankers that will eventually be replaced by newer aircraft, but in order to get those new aircraft to be located at Selfridge, it’s important that we continue to make investments to make sure it meets the needs of the modern Air Force.”

Peters helped secure the financing for the upgrades at Selfridge. The new facility is expected to be completed in early 2025.
