A recent survey shows that a large portion of the Michigan economy is flattening. Brian Long, director of supply chain management research at Grand Valley State University, believes business purchases are as flat as can be.

“However, it is our automotive parts producers that are holding us up. Other industries, like office furniture, are softening. But again, I say softening and not collapsing as we would expect in a recession.”

Long says this means the economy in west Michigan is currently stable, but flat.
