Set for next Thursday is a presentation by vaccine researcher Dr. Kizzmekia Shanta Corbett, hosted by Andrews University. She was invited by Andrews University associate professor of chemistry Desmond Murray, who tells WSJM News Corbett helped to develop Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine thanks to research she has done on coronaviruses for several years at the Vaccine Research Center of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“A lot of people are thinking that there was no research really going on about coronavirus and coronavirus vaccines,” Murray said. “That’s absolutely not true.”

Murray says Corbett’s presentation on Thursday will be aimed at answering questions about the COVID vaccines and how they were developed.

“We were well-positioned, I think, to try to get her an audience of people she wanted to speak to and spread her message of safety and effectiveness.”

Murray says he’s hoping for around 500 people to attend the virtual presentation over Zoom. It’s Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The link is right here.
