The Berrien County Administration building, the Berrien County Courthouse, and the Berrien County Public Defender’s office in St. Joseph are all closed due to a power outage that started around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Indiana Michigan Power says about 3,000 customers in the St. Joseph area are without service. Crews are still working to determine a precise reason, but I&M tells us the high voltage line serving the substation cut out, bringing the whole substation down. As of about 3 p.m. there was no estimated restoration time, although some of the outages were beginning to end.
