Dyckman Park in downtown South Haven will soon gain a year-round gathering space and fireplace through the anticipated success of a crowdfunding campaign. As of 2 p.m. Monday, assistant city manager Griffin Graham says they have raised $5,500 on Patronicity of the $40,000 needed by December 2.

“I am cautiously optimistic, but I know we have a generous community and a community that’s always  been quite supportive of these public improvement projects, so I am looking forward to being able to make this happen.”

Graham says Dyckman Park is right between City Hall and the Huron Street pavilion, which hosts the farmers’ market in the summer and the city’s ice skating rink in the winter.

“We’re particularly excited about this project because it supports a lot of the city of South Haven’s economic development goals. It contributes to a strong downtown and a year round economy.”

Graham says it is a SHOUT-inspired project that has been on their radar for a few years. Donations and more information are at patronicity.com/southhaven.
