Calling it a $1 billion tax cut for seniors and working families, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed the Lowering MI Costs Plan into law. The new legislation greatly increases the Working Families Tax Credit.

“We are quintupling the Working Families Tax Credit to an average refund of $3,150 back into the pockets of 700,000 families, directly benefitting half of the children in Michigan,” Whitmer said.

The new plan also rolls back the retirement tax. The $180 dollar rebate checks the governor talked about did not gain enough support to go out this year.
