A wanted fugitive with an identifying face tattoo is in custody after running from police.
Joseph Gregory Nortley III, 42, was arrested Thursday on warrants parole absconding warrant and failure to appear for sentencing for possession of meth, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Police said they received information about the wanted fugitive by the Michigan Department of Corrections, and was located near Kalamazoo Street and Van Buren Street in Bloomingdale this afternoon. A photo of Nortley shows several face, head and neck tattoos, including the words “white pride” above his eyebrows.
Upon contact, police said Nortley fled into the woods on foot. During the chase, Nortley was reaching into his waist band, “insinuating he had a weapon, possibly a firearm,” according to the police report. During the chase, other deputies set up a perimeter around the woods. Nortley allegedly threatened a deputy during the chase, and was eventually tased and taken into custody after emerging from the woods.
Police said Nortley is also charged with resisting arrest.
