AAA is reminding everyone to have a plan for how to get home when out celebrating this Fourth of July weekend. AAA of Michigan spokesperson Adrienne Woodland tells us to help, the service is reactivating the Tow to Go program. That offers those who have had too much to drink a way to get a ride and a tow instead of driving drunk. She says the service has been around for 25 years now.

“One of the things that we do want drivers out on the roadways this holiday is to remember to treat Tow to Go as a last resorts, and instead make plans for a safe ride home,” Woodland said.

Woodland says those who call 1-855-2-Tow-2-Go can get picked up by a AAA tow and taken to a safe location within a ten mile radius. However, again, it’s to be considered a last resort. Tow to Go has gotten more than 25,000 drunks off the road since it was created. It will be in effect starting at 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Wednesday.
