A man charged in the death of a Berrien County Road Department worker last year will go to trial in August. The Berrien County Prosecutor’s office tells us Taylor Ryan Johnson of Buchanan is charged with drunk driving causing death. He’s accused of striking 50-year-old William Mack Isom with his car on on Red Bud Trail in Oronoko Township on July 20 of 2022. Isom was on the job at the time, working to clear a fallen tree branch from the road. Police arrived at the scene to find Isom in the road and Johnson still walking around the area. His blood alcohol tested for twice the legal limit. The prosecutor’s office says Johnson will be tried before Judge Jennifer Smith at the Niles Courthouse starting August 29. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
