About 235 cars filled up their tanks at a reduced cost of $2.38 per gallon at the Lakeshore Shell station on Red Arrow Highway in Stevensville Wednesday as Congressman Tim Walberg greeted them.

Walberg teamed up with Americans for Prosperity Michigan for the promotion to highlight the effects of inflation. He said the $2.38 number was chosen because that was the nation’s average gas price on the day President Joe Biden took office.

Walberg promoted his CARS Act, which would block stricter emission standards.

Walberg also touted the Lower Energy Costs Act, which aims to increase domestic fossil fuel production.

Walberg chatted with customers who stopped by the gas station for about two hours.
