The Lincoln Township Planning Commission has gotten to work on a new master plan.

Speaking to colleagues Tuesday, Trustee Marc Florian said a steering committee has been established with Florian as the chair. He held a preliminary meeting this week with a consultant ahead of the steering committee’s first meeting.

Florian said as the master plan is developed in the coming year, a big priority will be seeking public input.

“Historically, we’ve done things here at the township hall, we’ve had people come in, we’ve had open houses and things of that nature,” Florian said. “We’ve sent out surveys.”

The problem, Florian said, is some surveys don’t get many responses. That’s why he’s hoping to use the new township website to do an online survey.

The updated site’s expected to launch in January.

Florian said the master plan steering committee will meet November 6 to get started.

The master plan governs development around the township for years into the future. The current master plan is about 20 years old, although it has been updated in five-year increments.
