Reimer, signed as a free agent, picked up his 29th career shutout in Detroit’s only appearance in Columbus this season. Larkin slid the puck between Martin’s pads for a power-play goal at 11:11, a play which ended with a slashing penalty on Columbus’ Sean Kuraly. That power-play opportunity opened the door for Copp’s first score of the season 56 seconds later, making it 4-0.

Cowboys 20, Chargers 17 – Dak Prescott, Cowboys rally in fourth quarter for a 20-17 victory over the Chargers
Dak Prescott threw for 272 yards and a touchdown, and the Dallas Cowboys rebounded from a rout a week ago, beating the Los Angeles Chargers 20-17 Monday night. Prescott completed 21 of 30 passes and also had a rushing TD. He connected with Brandin Cooks for a 2-yard score with 11:19 remaining in the game to give the Cowboys a 17-10 lead. Los Angeles tied it at 17 with 7:11 remaining when Gerald Everett caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from Justin Herbert. After Brandon Aubrey gave the Cowboys a 20-17 lead with a 39-yard field goal, the Chargers had one last chance to send it into overtime. NFL – Justin Fields’ dislocated thumb adds to the uncertainty for the Bears
Quarterback Justin Fields will likely miss the Chicago Bears’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders because of a dislocated right thumb. Fields was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s 19-13 loss to Minnesota. He landed awkwardly on his right hand as he tried to flip the ball away while getting sacked by Danielle Hunter. The injury adds another wrinkle to the Bears’ long-term decision when it comes to the quarterback position. Fields is 6-25 as a starter over three years. The Bears have to decide after the season whether to exercise the fifth-year option for 2025.

NCAA – College sports faces more legal issues
As the NCAA works to find a way to manage the way athletes are compensated for name, image and likeness, other threats are gathering. A federal antitrust case could force the NCAA and the wealthiest conferences to create pro-style revenue sharing of billions of broadcast-rights dollars with football and basketball players. House vs. the NCAA is a class-action lawsuit being heard by Judge Claudia Wilken, whose previous rulings in NCAA cases paved the way for college athletes to profit from their fame and for schools to direct more money into their hands.

NCAAFB – Badgers QB out with broken hand
Wisconsin quarterback Tanner Mordecai is out indefinitely after breaking his throwing hand in a loss to Iowa on Saturday. Badgers coach Luke Fickell confirmed Monday that Mordecai’s hand was broken and didn’t set a timetable for the sixth-year senior’s possible return. ESPN first reported the severity of Mordecai’s injury. Mordecai left the Iowa game after his right hand hit the helmet of Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins late in the second quarter. Braedyn Locke was Wisconsin’s quarterback for the rest of the game. Wisconsin visits Illinois on Saturday.

Soccer –Belgium and Sweden match suspended after gunman kills 2
Thousands of soccer fans were kept inside Belgium’s national stadium for about 2 1/2 hours after a game between Belgium and Sweden was suspended at halftime following the fatal shooting of two Swedes in Brussels before kickoff. The European Championship qualifier on Monday was being played 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the shooting in the Belgian capital. More than 35,000 fans attended the match. With the suspected shooter still at large, Belgian authorities kept fans inside the venue for security reasons before they started the evacuation around midnight local time. Fans chanted “All together, All together” inside the King Baudouin Stadium after the match was halted. Thousands of supporters from both sides shouted “Sweden, Sweden!”
