The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy has announced a grant for the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission to work with two Berrien County communities on water issues.

EGLE says the commission will receive just under $51,000 to assist Benton Harbor with creating a green stormwater infrastructure framework. It will also use the money to promote resiliency concepts in the city of Bridgman, along with a zoning ordinance review.

EGLE in all this week announced more than $645,000 statewide for eleven projects aimed at costal resiliency. The goal is to increase knowledge of coastal risks by conducting outreach, obtaining technical help, creating plans, and offering training.
