There’s been some movement in negotiations between Detroit casino workers and the companies.

Sources familiar with the talks say the two sides are closer to resolving technology and housekeeping workload issues.

About 300 workers spent Tuesday at the Michigan Capitol asking lawmakers to join them on the picket line and support their effort for better pay and benefits.

Milledge McAllister is an engineer at Greektown, where he’s worked for 14 years.

“Try to put some context on what we’re dealing with at all three casinos,” McAllister said. “The work conditions, the pay, and just try to have the right support so we can all get back to work, get things back to normal business.”

The Detroit Casino Council says workers sacrificed raises and shouldered heavier workloads so the industry could recover from the pandemic. Union leaders say the main issues include increased pay to keep up with inflation, retirement security, and improved working conditions.
