Road projects in St. Joseph, Stevensville, South Haven to receive state grants

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced $3.1 million in funding around the state for villages and small cities to do road projects, and on the list are St. Joseph, Stevensville, and South Haven.

The governor’s office says the grants from the Community Service Infrastructure Fund are going to 17 communities in Michigan. Projects were selected, in part, because they’re paired with infrastructure work, coordinated with other road agencies, focused on extending the useful life of the road, or have limited funding sources.

The city of St. Joseph has been awarded $97,000 for work on Saint Joseph Drive and Midway Avenue.

Stevensville has been awarded $227,000 for work on Demorrow Road and another $137,000 for work on Berrien Street, Lawrence Street, Kimmel Street, Park Street, and Mill Street.

South Haven has been awarded $151,000 for improvements to Elkenburg Street.
