Livonia Police are touting what they say amounts to the largest bust of fentanyl in Michigan history with the seizure of 41 kilograms, or about 90 pounds, in raw and pill form.

The deadly drugs put on display by Livonia Police Captain Greg Yon this week.

“This investigation started back in September with a single traffic stop by a Livonia officer on a subject, which resulted in an arrest for a minor violation of narcotics, and our officers worked this all the way up until the end of the case, which came on March 28th, which resulted in three search warrants, one in Clinton Township and two in the city of Detroit,” Yon said. “The evidence that you see behind me is what was seized through the efforts of our officers and those search warrants that were executed by the Livonia Police Department.”

Arrested was 55-year-old Barry Willis of Clinton Township, who police believe is the leader of a fentanyl distribution ring. He faces federal charges, including intent to distribute controlled substances.
