Corewell Health and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department are teaming up again for a drug takeback day.

The plan is to collect unused and unwanted prescription drugs for safe disposal this Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Corewell says dropping off unneeded medications helps keep them from falling into the wrong hands. Medical Director of Addiction Medicine Colleen Lane says Michigan saw far too many opioid deaths last year, and many were related to prescription drugs.

There will be two collection sites this Saturday. They are Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital on Napier Avenue in St. Joseph and the Corewell Health Care Center on St. Joseph Avenue in Niles.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department will oversee the destruction of the dropped off medications.
