Benton Harbor Area Schools Superintendent Andrae Townsel is a finalist for a superintendent position in Maryland. The Calvert County Board of Education says it’s narrowed its search for a superintendent down to two. One of those candidates is Dr. Townsel. A post on the district’s website says Townsel has worked “in every level of the educational system and excelled.” Townsel was hired at Benton Harbor Area Schools in 2019 after previously serving as assistant superintendent in the Wayne-Westland Community School District. He’s up against Dr. Racquel Jones, community superintendent for Baltimore County Public Schools. The Calvert County Board of Education is looking to replace its current superintendent, who is retiring at the end of this year. The district says the “two finalists will participate in individual interviews with the Calvert County Board of Education, in candidate forums with stakeholders to include community, staff, students, and parents, and in tours of the school system.”
